Contractors Insurance Agency for Your Workers Compensation Insurance Needs
Workers compensation insurance covers your business entity for injuries suffered by your employees. Statutory benefits are paid to injured employee and employer’s liability. Limit covers you in case you are sued due to a work related injury.
Contractors Insurance Agency works hand in hand with Trigon Staff Administrators to assist in securing workers compensation insurance policies; handling claims, quarterly or monthly premium reports, policy audits, certificate requests, loss run requests and deposit requirements.
Deposit Premiums
Trigon Staff has always been sensitive to the requests of large deposits that are required to bind a workers compensation insurance policy. We have been effective in assisting the client with those requirements. Trigon Staff will work diligently with their clients to satisfy the policy deposit. In many cases, our clients do not pay workers compensation insurance deposits.
Loss Run Reports
Trigon Staff provides reporting on your claim history containing detailed information on the claim, amount paid and description of incident. The report can be produced by month, year or for the duration of the policy. All reports are provided to our clients in a PDF format for ease of use.
Policy Premium Audits
Employers dealing directly with workers compensation insurance carriers on an individual basis provide an estimate of gross wages for the policy period. At the end of the year, the carrier audits the employer and either refunds the balance on premiums collected over the estimate or collects additional premium to compensate for the low estimate. Trigon’s relationship with our workers compensation insurance carriers allow for the premium to reflect accurate weekly wages thereby eliminating under or over payments and helping the client avoid any large premium payments due at the end of the policy period.
Claims Administration
Due to the co-employer relationship with Trigon Staff, the client company is only responsible for the initial completion of the Industrial Report of Injury. Trigon Staff will process the claim through the Industrial Commission and the workers’ compensation carrier. Most injury hearings and court cases are handled by the Trigon Staff Workers’ Compensation team, thereby saving the client the requirement of mandatory court appearances.
Who Needs Workers Compensation Insurance in Arizona
Most Arizona contractors need workers compensation insurance the moment they bring on help, even part-time or seasonal help. A framing crew adding a helper for a busy stretch, a roofing contractor hiring a second installer before monsoon season, or a remodeling outfit bringing on a laborer for a kitchen job all fall into this category. If you have even one employee, general contracting work, residential remodeling, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing and landscaping businesses across the Phoenix metro and beyond typically need coverage in place before a bid is awarded.
Sole proprietors with no employees are generally the exception, but once that first hire is made, the requirement applies. Many general contractors, property managers and commercial clients also ask subcontractors to show proof of coverage before letting them on site, so having it in place keeps jobs moving.
Arizona Workers Compensation Insurance Requirements
Arizona requires most employers with one or more employees, including part-time workers, to carry workers compensation insurance. Sole proprietors without employees generally are not required to carry it, though some choose to anyway for their own protection. Claims and disputes are handled through the Industrial Commission of Arizona, which oversees workers compensation insurance matters statewide. You can review the agency’s guidance directly through the
Industrial Commission of Arizona.
Separately, the Arizona Registrar of Contractors requires licensed contractors to post a contractor license bond, with the amount depending on license classification and annual volume. While the ROC doesn’t require general liability for licensing, general contractors, property managers, HOAs and homeowners often ask for proof of GL through a certificate of insurance, sometimes with additional-insured wording. Between summer heat, monsoon storms and dust, Arizona job sites carry real risk, which is one more reason to keep coverage current.
